Gift - Turkey - New Watchers - New Favorites

Journal Entry: Thu Nov 6, 2008, 6:44 PM

Look what a terrific gift I got from :icondennisv:

I couldn't believe my eyes when I found it. The design and the color scheme is really outstanding. BB is my monogram and I never liked the look of it much, but this is a totally different story. I think the way Dennis' designed it, it looks totally super. I shall treasure this gift very highly.

Thank you so much Denise for making this very personal gift for me. It's a truly wonderful to receive such an unexpected and valuable gift. It pleases me more than I can say

An other thing that made me happy this week was the news that Barack Obama won the elections  and to see the joy all over the world about his victory. After I heard and finally read his speech I felt a great admiration for the man. May he have the strength :strong: to live up to peoples expectations and full fill his promise to keep an open ear in all directions .

My flagcounter tells me that I had 121 visitors from Turkey Turkey Avatar by Misaki-chi  since I installed the counter in May. That's amazing. Today I would like to send a special thank you to all these visitors for stopping bye my site and for their kind support. I am watching wonderful Turkish artists and have many Turkish watchers. For fear that I might forget someone I will not mention any by name. I used the dA browser to search for "Turkey" and had a great time looking at all the images that showed up. This one caught my eye very quickly. This awesome fractal is a very nice tribute to Turkey imho.

All I Can GiveA world all my own has never existed
If it did, who would I be?
Would I want to be a ruler? No.
Would I give you control of me?
You bet I would, in a split-second’s matter
I’ll hand to you my life
I’ll let you hold it in your hand
You’ll wield it like a knife
The dagger you cherish will pierce my heart
My wrist, my severed veins
That life you’ll hold is but my love
Without it, I cannot maintain
But I’ll let you keep it, without a sound
I’ll let you stab me to the ground
And all that’s left of yesterday
Is the loveless body, wasting away
Tears and RaindropsWhen Tears and Raindrops Collide
It is a solemn night and no one is awake but you
It’s not their fault, do not blame them
They tried everything they could to help you out and you pushed them away
By they, I mean we, and we were there
We are the people whose shoulders can be cried on
We listened, but did you?
And now you’re alone in the darkness of the outside world
Secretly, we are crying the tears that you could not
The clouds become grayer and the rainstorm begins
If you happen to go out in that rainstorm, look for us
We’re there and your tears are streaming down our faces
We could have stopped caring, but that would make us heartless
We tried not to cry and we’re sorry
Our eyes refused to hold back your tears…
When tears and raindrops collide
Stop the ChaosHow’d we get into this mess
When victory was so near?
Why’d the world stop turning
When our minds were shrouded with fear?
How’d our hearts become so brittle
When faced with mournful loss?
Is there any way to save us now?
Can you help me stop the chaos?
Are we heading the right way
Or are we simply blind?
Will you keep pressing forward
Or must I leave you behind?
Are we trapped in our own net
In a forest in which we’re lost?
Is there any way to save us now?
Can you help me stop the chaos?
Why can’t we escape the darkness?
And why can I not see?
Are you stumbling on the rocks?
Why are you following me?
Why do you put faith in me
When your sympathy, I will toss?
Is there any way to save us now?
Can you help me stop the chaos?
Where is my path leading us?
Do you mind or will you stay?
We’re stuck in this oblivion
Do you care we’ve gone astray?
Will we make it out alive
Or have to pay the cost?
Is there any way to save us now?
Can you help me stop the cha

I love what you are doing re Turkey. I was a bellydance teacher for a long time and used to take my students on holiday to Turkey and Egypt. I love the Turkish people. Istanbul is my favourite city. So much art and culture.

I hope to go back there one day before I am too old.

Thanks for featuring my image.

I have been to Istanbul only once during the oil crisis in 72/73 it was in January and we nearly froze our butts off. My husband has traveled more in Turkey and loved it. Perhaps I get the opportunity for a visit once again too. I have been to Egypt several times because it was warm there when it was still or already cold here when we had to take our holidays.
It must have been fascinated to visit Istanbul and Egypt with a dance group. I am sure you got into contact with many interesting people.
I keep my fingers crossed that you shall be able to visit Istanbul again soon :D

I have danced on the rooftops in Istanbul, overlooking the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sofia. Best to go to Istanbul in May. All the blossom is on the trees and it is pleasant enough not to get too tired walking about.

Wow,Roz it's amazing how much there is to see on your webpage. Thank you very much for the link. I will your travel reports in the day time when my eyes are less tired. I just watched the you tube videos. They are awesome. I havn't a clue how you made those. It sure is a terrific way to show off fractals. Thank you for pointing me to it

I can imagine that belly dancing is a wonderful way to express your feelings. I hope you have not abandoned it completely. I am a hopeless dancer myself. Once I had a black boyfriend who moved beautifully. It was divine to watch him. He said to me: "Girl, you can walk and you can talk but dancing is not in your blood". You can imagine that that stopped all my efforts to try anymore.

Afraid the bellydancing is gone now. I am 64 and found that most students want a bit more energy from a teacher than I have to offer. Sometimes though when the music is right I dance about all round the computer room.

I learnt an awful lot through my bellydance career. I can't bear it when I hear all the brainwashing that has been done to the Arab/Muslim world. People are too ready to accept what they are told by public media than to actually go and find out for themselves. If they can't go then there is just so much to read online.

The videos were made on Windows Movie maker, really easy. I do convert them to Divx before uploading as it is much faster and I make all the music into wav files so it is smaller files.

There is another video on Youtube, it's a short program I made for BBC's Switched On Series. It has been shown all over the world for years now. You need to go onto Youtube to see it:[link] I also have a humanities page on my site, needs updating... I am an activist and try to do something about a better future for everyone.

Thanks for looking at my site and showing an interest.

Thank you for the link to the Roz Passion move. It's very impressing! I proves that you had done a lot of good things with your time.

I haven't finished reading your webpage yet. I get so much to read every day that I never make it thourough everything. The sad thing is that I get flooded with shocking news about tragedies that happen all over the globe mainly because of the peoples worries about the unknown which the quickly regard as enemy. It's very sad. If everyone would take advantage, at least of the internet and read different newspapers, to broaden their horizon, if they don't have to opportunity to travel, we'd have a better world. It's mainly that worries about the unknown that makes people act irrational. Every ignorant is potentially dangerous one way or another. I am glad to have discovered fractals, they help me to unwind, they deistract me and let me forget the terrible things that go on around me for a while. When I open dA I want to switch off, forget about the worlds problems and just concentrate on art to keep my sanity.
I am fortunate to know many people of different cultures and have easy access to information from different sources to help me form an opinion. I am used to look at everything from different angles always. I am sure your profession as a belly dancer and the travels involved with that gave you valuable insight in the mentality of the Middle Eastern people and therefore you can understand them.
We can't do much to improve the lives of any of the less fortunate but at least we can try to be their interpreter and make those who can help aware of their needs and help those who live with us to understand our way of life in returnof lerning about their's. I don't do any of this in dA for reasons stated above but dealing with unhappy people takes up a big part of my time.
Knowing how important an open mind and a wide horizon is, I am very glad about the outcome of the elections in the US.
If ever my to-do-list let's me I will try to make a fractal movie too. Thank you for letting me know how to start.
